Amboseli Serena Lodge:
The Serena facility at Amboseli meets the high standards of the group. The lodge, built in a Maasai enkang' or manyatta style, is located in the south sector, between the edge of the lava flow and a swampy waterhole. It has 182 beds, swimming pool, Maasai dance shows, conference lounge and informative talks on wildlife and native culture.
Amboseli Lodge:
Amboseli Lodge, one of the classic accommodations in the park, is now closed for renovations. Located in Ol Tukai area, before closure it had 240 beds in colonial-style huts distributed over a lush green. The location and the atmosphere were very nice and the lodge offered a swimming pool and night Maasai dance shows, though the restaurant quality and the service in general definitely needed a revision.
Ol Tukai Lodge:
Ol Tukai Lodge was formerly run by the system of self-catering bandas, in which guests prepared their own food with the supplies sold at the lodge's store. Currently the lodge offers full service and is one of the best in the park, with 80 luxury chalet-style twin rooms.
The lodges at Ol Tukai have their origin in the huts built during the shooting of the movie version of Ernest Hemingway's book 'The snows of Kilimanjaro', starring Ava Gardner and Gregory Peck. In 1948, the Paramount company built some huts which were given to the Maasai once the filming was over.
Tortilis Camp:
Tortilis is a tented camp belonging to Cheli & Peacock with 17 double tents. It is located at the south border of the park, near the Maasai villages, few kilometers away from Amboseli Serena Lodge. It offers dining facilities and swimming pool.
